Keighley

I live in Keighley but don't love. It doesn't look like it has been loved for a long, long time. Traffic cuts its way through the town, belching out tons of CO2. Drivers race around the streets without inhibition. There's no hope of being able to cycle safely. Unimaginative planning and backward looking councils have left the place looking dreary and unwanted. The shopping centre removes wealth from the town and reflects an absurd monoculture rather than the huge and interesting cultural diversity that is Keighley.

I want to see trees planted, streets de-urbanised, traffic calmed. I want to see green places for people to sit. I want to see small businesses opening up, supported with low rents - not more charity shops and payday loan shops but people making and selling. The back streets are full of fantastic makers, menders, fixers, creators but hidden away out of sight. I want to see people from Keighley loving what Keighley can enable them to do.
