Less congested city

The corona virus lockdown has proved that pollution levels can be drastically reduced if there is no traffic.

A proper ring road should be built around the city completely so that traffic needing to get past Bradford can avoid it, and all traffic bar emergencys and deliveries be banned.

The country towns and villages should remain seperate towns and villages. There should be no more house building, turning everywhere into a choking urban sprawl. Two things need to be done to achieve this.

1. Abolish the Bradford Metropolitan Council and make it a city council again. Let the rural areas. Look after their own affairs in their own way and not be abysed to serve city interests.

2. Cut the population. Bringing carbon emissions down to pre-industrial level can't be done while sustaining post industral sized populations. The natural pre-industrial population of these islands, including Ireland, is between 4 and 6 million people. Weare currently trying to support over 70 million. It is not sustainable. We should aim to cut the population by half in the next two hundred years through reducing birth rate.

As a consequence communities would need each other and therefore cherish each other, and would have space to enjoy a quality environment.

The alternative approach would be that, as Bradford is acity that came into being to serve the mills, and the mills are no longer there,it should be demolished and left to return to the moorland from which it emerged.
