My city and Me growing together

Arrived in Bradford 1998 and I have been living here ever since.

The hardest thing for me was the weather I found my first winter very cold ( by September i was already wearing a coat, my partner said to me at the time what are you going to wear in December? my answer was i don't I have adapted since.

I have made a lot of friends and consider myself as an adopted Yorkshire lass. I think I have a very privilege life especially in summer time. I can go walking in the country side after work or choose to enjoy the city life.

I have seen the ups and down of our city. Bradford is a welcoming place , with a lot of character , a big cultural heritage of Saltaire ; Howarth , the Media Museum ; The Architecture we have some stunning building; such as the wool exchange and plenty more . It has a multicultural society , with 140 different language spoken , Curry capital.

Food wise plenty of foreign food shops. weather you want spices from Asian shop or wonder around the Bangladeshi supermarket on Manningham Lane where you can discover all sorts of fish (some are huge great to try on a barbecue), or going to Chinese supermarket on North Parade or the Syrian food shop in John street Market and finishing to any good eastern European supermarket with the rollmops or the cured meat . A little travel around the world without going very far. That's

what Bradford is all about for me is : good food; good pub , good folks. We need to be proud of our city , of course its not perfect , but we can always improve , over the last 20 years the city has encountered its up and down. What I personally will retain its , its resilience and ability to adapt to fast changing world that we are living in.

In my twenty's I loved a good night out around the clubs and the city centre was like a party night , growing older for while there was very little for people in their mid 40's now we have plenty of choice . and the night life for young people has moved away from the city centre and has concentrated towards the college and University.

Our city is changing and its growing and evolving like myself
